15.. Going 16..

Tracker News
Your baby continues to grow steadily, and may be beyond the 4 ½ inch point in crown-to-rump length. She's almost 3 ounces in weight. From this point on, she'll be growing and gaining weight, preparing for her birth. You may be able to feel her move by now, though you'll still feel only a light "fluttering." Or it may not be until 20 weeks or later that you'll feel the baby move. When a pregnant woman feels the baby move, this is called quickening.

You may look more obviously pregnant now, and need more definite maternity clothes. You may also want to wear lighter-weight clothes. It is normal to be warmer and perspire more when you are pregnant. You may see somewhat darker areas on your face (called the "mask" of pregnancy) as well as on your abdomen or other parts of your skin. These are normal, and will fade after your baby is born.

At this stage of your pregnancy you have been pregnant for sixteen weeks and your baby has been around for fourteen weeks. You should begin to be feel your baby move inside your uterus about this time. This is because your baby's bones are getting harder and harder. The legs are now longer than his or her arms. Your baby will be moving more frequently than before and you will be able to feel it more.

Do not worry; there is still plenty of room in your uterus for your growing baby. At this stage fingernails and toenails are making an appearance. By now your baby is about four to four and one half inches long, and growing. He or she weighs a little more than two and three quarter ounces! Getting big!

Where your body is concerned you may notice that things are beginning to happen that would seem to have nothing to do with your pregnancy. You may find that your nose may bleed or it may feel stuffier than usual; because of this you may think that you are developing a cold or that you are getting allergies. No, this is due to the increased blood volume that has been accumulating during your pregnancy. The increased blood volume tends to affect your estrogen levels. This increase in estrogen swells your nasal membranes! You will find that your ligaments in and around your abdomen will continue to stretch to support your growing belly.

If you and your health care provider feel it is necessary for an amniocentesis it will be scheduled between your sixteenth and eighteenth weeks of pregnancy. The amniocentesis measures the amount of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in the amniotic fluid. Be sure to discuss the risks and benefits of this procedure with your healthcare provider before proceeding.

Hi Joanne,

Till really flies and you are already into the 2nd trimester! So you should be given fish oil, calcium and/or iron pills dependent on your blood count. Juz remember not to eat ur calcium with iron cos it will hinder absorption. Guess ur gynae will info u too lah :D

Anyhow, ur bb shld starts to wriggle and u will feel more of the kicks real... soon! Juz enjoy the pregnancy process and remember to eat well, zzz well and most of all, enjoy and be happy! Get daddy-to-be to be involve too, and once u know the sex of ur bb, find a name (if u intend to give a english name) and starts calling the baby by name. And be amaze by how the bb would response to you when u call!

And you are most welcome to link our blog to urs so that we can share more info & tips with gfrnds and moms to be!

Welcome to motherhood!
Take care and Enjoy ... laura & larry
